The lecture will present two cases of transnational contacts that influenced and/or shaped the early Yiddish daily press in Warsaw (until 1918): 1) the so-called Litvak migration from Russia and the Pale of Settlement into the Congress Poland at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries, and 2) the contacts with German Jews (mostly from the Komittee für den Osten) who visited the German-occupied Warsaw during the First World War.
